ระบบหล่อลื่นของเครื่องยนต์

เมื่อเครื่องยนต์ทำงาน(ติดเครื่อง)ชิ้นส่วนต่างๆ ของเครื่องยนต์เกิดการเคลื่อนไหวขึ้น เช่น ลูกสูบ แหวนลูกสูบ ข้อเหวี่ยง ฟันเฟือง และระบบลิ้น หรือชิ้นส่วนต่างๆ ที่เคลื่อนไหวในการเคลื่อนไหวของชิ้นส่วนเหล่านั้น จะทำให้เกิดการสึกหรอขึ้นด้วยการเสียดสี

ดังนั้นในระบบนี้จึงใช้น้ำมันที่มีความเหนียวเข้าไปหล่อเป็นน้ำมันหล่อลื่น  โดยการใส่เข้าไปไว้ในห้องข้อเหวี่ยงซึ่งอยู่ตอนล่างของเครื่องยนต์ ที่เรียกว่าอ่างเครื่องน้ำมันเครื่องจะขึ้นมาหล่อลื่นได้ดังนี้คือ

1.  โดยการตักของข้อเหวี่ยง  เนื่องจากข้อเหวี่ยงข้างหนึ่ง มีลักษณะคล้ายช้อนยื่นออกไป และตักน้ำมันขึ้นมาในขณะที่เคลื่อนที่หมุน และจากแรงเหวี่ยง จะสลัดน้ำมันเครื่องขึ้นไปหล่อลื่นส่วนต่างๆ ดังที่กล่าวมาแล้ว และไหลกลับลงสู่อ่างเครื่อง

2.  โดยการใช้ปั๊มพ์สูบน้ำมันเครื่อง ส่งไปหล่อลื่นส่วนต่างๆ วิธีนี้มักใช้กับเครื่องยนต์ขนาดใหญ่ เพราะว่าจำเป็นต้องส่งน้ำมันเครื่องขึ้นไปหล่อลื่นเป็นจำนวนมากและระยะไกลๆ และไหลกลับลงสู่อ่างเครื่อง

ประโยชน์ของการหล่อลื่น

1.  เพื่อทำให้เกิดการสึกหรอน้อยลง  เนื่องจากน้ำมันเครื่องทำให้ลื่น จึงมีการเสียดสีน้อย

2.  เพื่อช่วยระบบความร้อน ในตอนที่ขึ้นไปหล่อลื่นนั้นจะมีความร้อนติดน้ำมันลงสู่อ่างเครื่องยนต์ด้วย แต่เครื่องยนต์ขนาดใหม่ๆ บางอย่างจะจัดให้น้ำมันเครื่องไหลไประบายความร้อนเช่นเดียวกับน้ำ โดยการจัดรังผึ้งให้อยู่คู่กัน

หลักของการเปลี่ยนน้ำมันเครื่อง

สำหรับเครื่องยนต์ที่เริ่มใช้ใหม่ๆ ให้เปลี่ยนน้ำมันเครื่องเมื่อ 80 ชั่วโมงทำงาน หรือ  ขั้นต่อไป 160 ชั่วโมงทำงาน  และต่อไปให้เปลี่ยนน้ำมันเครื่องเมื่อ

1.  น้ำมันเครื่องเสีย ซึ่งอาจเกิดจากน้ำเข้าผสมหรืออื่นๆ

2.  เมื่อครบจำนวนเวลาทำงาน เช่น 250-300 ชั่วโมงหรือทุกๆ  1 เดือน

วิธีเปลี่ยนน้ำมันเครื่อง

1.  ให้เปิดจุกก้นอ่างน้ำมันเครื่องให้น้ำมันเครื่องไหลออกให้หมด  ในขณะที่น้ำมันเครื่องกำลังมีความร้อนอยู่หรือภายหลังจากดับเครื่องยนต์ใหม่ๆ ถ้าเครื่องยนต์เย็นควรติดเครื่องยนต์ให้ร้อนเสียก่อน

2.  ทุกครั้งที่เปลี่ยนน้ำมันเครื่อง ควรเปลี่ยนไส้กรองน้ำมันเสียด้วย แล้วเติมน้ำมันเครื่องใหม่ให้เต็มหม้อกรอง

3.  เติมน้ำมันเครื่องใหม่ตามนัมเบอร์ที่เคยใช้มาแล้ว ให้ได้ระดับขีดที่มีเครื่องหมายบอกเอาไว้

4.  ควรจะติดเครื่องยนต์ให้เบาๆ ไว้สักประมาณ 5 นาที แล้วจึงดับเครื่องและทิ้งไว้ประมาณ 1-2 นาที จึงวัดใหม่ดูแล้วเติมให้ได้ระดับขีด ที่กำหนดไว้อีกครั้งหนึ่ง (ถ้าน้ำมันไม่ถึงขีด)

อันตรายจากน้ำมันเครื่อง รั่ว เสื่อม หรือมีน้อย

1.  แบริ่งก้านสูบ และแบริ่งใหญ่ข้อเหวี่ยงละลาย

2.  เครื่องยนต์แตก เนื่องจากก้านลูกสูบหักและขัดตัวกับข้อเหวี่ยง

เมื่อเครื่องยนต์กำลังทำงานอยู่ และน้ำมันเครื่องหมดหรือมีน้ำมันเครื่องน้อย เมื่อรถตะแคงเครื่องยนต์ก็จะเสียทันที ภายในเวลา 5 นาที หรือ 10 นาทีเท่านั้น

การเลือกใช้น้ำมันหล่อลื่น

น้ำมันเครื่องยนต์	ระบบเกียร์
อุณหภูมิกว่า 40°F	สูงกว่า 40°F
ใช้เกรด 36-40	ใช้น้ำมันเครื่องเกรด 50-60 หรือใช้น้ำมันเกียร์เกรด 90-140

เครื่องยนต์กินน้ำมันเครื่องมาก สาเหตุ

1.  น้ำมันเครื่องรั่วตามส่วนต่างๆ ของเครื่องยนต์ จะสังเกตได้จากมีน้ำมันสีดำๆ เปียกชื้น ควรรีบแก้ไข

2.  ลูกสูบหลวม เนื่องจากการสึกหรอระหว่างลูกสูบกับแหวนลูกสูบ มีช่องหลวมเกินไป

3.  แหวนลูกสูบ

-ใส่แหวนลูกสูบผิดหน้า

-ปากแหวนตรงกันทั้งหมด

-แหวนลูกสูบหัก

-ปากแหวนห่างเกินไป ควรห่างประมาณ .002 นิ้ว

-ปลอกนำลิ้นหลวมควรเปลี่ยนใหม่

-ใส่น้ำมันเครื่องเกินระดับที่กำหนดไว้

สำหรับการใส่แหวนลูกสูบนั้น ควรจัดระยะมุมของปากแหวนให้อยู่เท่าๆ กัน และก่อนใส่ควรตรวจดูเสียก่อน ว่าหน้าไหนใหญ่หรือมีตัวหนังสือกำกับไว้ให้ใส่ไว้ข้างบน
